BALTIMORE - Baltimore City Police captured a man Friday night after he hit two children and fled the scene while riding an illegal dirt bike.
Police said officers in the western district became aware of the man around 6:00pm after they received a report that he was armed with a handgun. When police approached he took off on his bike and hit two children--a nine-year-old and a nine-month-old-- in the 500 block of Dolphin Street.
The children were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries
Meanwhile, police were pursuing the dirt bike rider via helicopter and officers on the ground were able to box him into an alley on North Ave and Bruce Street where he crashed his bike.
Police said the man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries and will be arrested and formally charged upon his release.
