Mother of robber pleads guilty to conspiracy

BALTIMORE - Regina McCullom, also known as Regina Wilson, age 49, of Laurel, Maryland, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a robbery conspiracy and a gun charge arising from a scheme to rob armored car employees who were transporting large amounts of cash.

According to her guilty plea, on May 22, 2008, McCullom, her son Erick Wilson, then an employee of Dunbar Armored, and other co-conspirators staged a gunpoint robbery during one of Wilson's scheduled cash deliveries in Washington D.C.  Wilson pretended to be surprised by the robbers, who stole about $210,000.
 
On April 29, 2009, McCullom, her son Erick Wilson, David Howard and others again robbed a Dunbar armored truck at gunpoint.  Specifically, McCullom drove with David Howard and her son Erick Wilson to an apartment complex in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she saw Howard and Wilson don fake beards.  She agreed to wait in the first vehicle while Howard and Erick Wilson left in a second vehicle to rob a Dunbar truck delivering cash to a bank on New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland.  During the robbery, Erick Wilson stole $160,000, as well as the handgun belonging to a Dunbar guard.
 
After the robbery, Howard and Erick Wilson met McCullom at the apartment complex in Silver Spring where she had waited and handed her a duffel bag containing both the stolen currency and the guard's loaded handgun.  McCullom walked away with the cash and the handgun, hailed a taxi cab and returned home.  Later, she met Wilson and Howard at a hotel in Columbia, Maryland, where she rented a room using robbery money.  Howard and Wilson used the room to divide the stolen cash.
 
Erick Wilson, age 26, of Columbia and David Marquise Howard, age 29, of Hyattsville and Baltimore previously pleaded guilty to their roles in a series of armored car robberies and are scheduled to be sentenced on November 21 and November 20, 2012, respectively.
 
McCullom faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit robbery, and a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum of life for aiding and abetting the use of a firearm during a crime of violence.  U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis has scheduled sentencing for January 4, 2013.

In October 2009, Regina McCullom pled guilty to the May 22, 2008 robbery and was sentenced in the District of Columbia.
