BALTIMORE (AP) -

A man who collected Social Security disability benefits while working for the agency has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Fifty-year-old Christopher George Perry of Baltimore was also ordered under three years of supervised release at sentencing Thursday.

According to evidence presented at trial, Perry began receiving Social Security long-term disability benefits in 1996. He also received Medicare benefits as a result of his disability and a low-income subsidy for prescription drugs.

Prosecutors say Perry went back to work in 1996 and in 2007, got a job as benefits authorizer with SSA, where he worked on cases pertaining to long-term disability benefits.

Prosecutors say Perry was overpaid more than $150,000 in benefits.
