BALTIMORE (AP) -

A man who police say fatally stabbed his 1-year-old son and hid the child's body in the mother's basement has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Twenty-six-year-old Hari Close entered the plea Thursday. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Prosecutors say police were called to the Baltimore home of the boy's mother on Sept. 7, 2011, to report that her child had been kidnapped.

Police followed a trail of blood from a bedroom to the basement, where they found the baby wrapped in a deflated air mattress. The child had been stabbed several times in the neck.
