A man was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday for hiring some to murder his fiance, Teresa McLeod, over 16 years ago.
Robert D. Harris was convicted and sentenced yesterday for hiring a man named Russell Brill to kill his fiance so he could collect on her insurance policy.
Harris told Brill that the couple would be going on a walk in the Violetville Park neighborhood and that he should rob them while they're walking, shooting Harris in the Leg once, and killing McLeod.
Brill succeeded and was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty with all but 30 years suspended back in 1997.
Harris was also sentenced to life in prison that year, but his decision was overturned 12 years later. This lead to another trial which concluded on Thursday.
Harris has been sentenced to 3 consecutive life terms in prison, plus an extra 20 years for first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit murder, and use of a handgun in a crime of violence.
