BALTIMORE -

A Baltimore City jury has convicted Marcus Satchell of the second degree murder of Jovon Perry in the Park Circle area in 2010.

On July 17, 2010, Satchell went to Perry's home, picked him up and took him to Park Heights Avenue where the two got into a fight. At the end of the fight Satchell got a handgun from an unknown individual and shot at Parry four times, hitting him once.

Police found Perry face down on the sidewalk at about midnight. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

From prison three months later, Satchell wrote a letter to Perry's family admitting responsibility for the murder, apologizing for the pain he caused and assuring them that they did not need to worry about a trial.

At trial, Satchell argued that the incident was an accident or an act of self defense.

Satchell was convicted of second degree murder and a handgun violation for the slaying.

Satchell is set to be sentenced on March 6, and faces a maximum of 50 years in prison.
