Officials with the Baltimore Police Department say an inmate attempted to escape central booking today, and as a result he was shot by a corrections officer.
The inmate is expected to survive.
Officials with Maryland State Police (MSP) are investigating the incident. They say the man was charged with loitering and was being taken out of a van when he jumped a fence and started running. At that point, a 12-year officer pulled a gun and shot the man.
