BALTIMORE (WMAR) - UPDATE (9:30 p.m.) -- Baltimore Police Officers from the Special Enforcement Section shot and killed a person after a brief chase, according to spokesman Sgt. J. Eric Kowalczyk
Detectives were on the scene of a police-involved fatal shooting in the Douglas Homes neighborhood in East Baltimore Wednesday evening.
According to police, officers were chasing a suspect who they believed was going to rob a local business.
Witnesses said the suspect looked like a teenager, although police have not yet confirmed his age.
Police fired shots at the suspect wounding him.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The suspect's identity and time of death has not been released.
Police have not said where the chase began.
