LINTHICUM, Md. - Maryland State Police are still patrolling the wooded area where an armed man disappeared yesterday off of southbound 295 in Anne Arundel County after attacking a speed camera vehicle.
According to State Police, at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday a white man came out of the woods off of southbound 295 near 195 holding a shot gun and a hammer and approached a speed camera vehicle that was parked with an employee contracted by the State Highway Administration inside.
The man tapped on the back window of the vehicle with the shotgun and the employee started blowing the SUV's horn.
The man walked to the front of the SUV and hit the windshield several times breaking the glass.
The employee was able to jump out of the vehicle, but told police the man was yelling before walking back into the woods still carrying the gun and hammer.
State Police searched the wooded area with K-9 units and a helicopter and shut down the Baltimore Washington Parkway, 295, for several hours after the incident, but could not located him.
No shots were fired.
The suspect is described as a white man in his sixties, about six feet tall, nearly two-hundred pounds, wearing glasses, a red and blue plaid shirt and blue jeans.
Police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing security video to try and identify him.
