HARWOOD, Md. (WMAR) - Anne Arundel County Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy after they say he was carrying a knife and a pellet gun in school today.
Just before 11:00 a.m., the School Resource Officer assigned to Southern High School in Harwood responded to the school cafeteria at the end of lunch for a report of a student possibly in possession of a weapon.
The school received a call about a student carrying a possible weapon and displaying it to another student during the day. Consequently the administration located the 17-year-old student and found he had a knife and a CO-2 powered pellet gun.
The pellet gun, which was not loaded and had no cartridge, was subsequently confiscated from the student.
No threats were made during the incident.
The student was arrested and charged on a juvenile citation with two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon on school property.
