PASADENA, Md. (WMAR) - Anne Arundel County Police have called off their search for a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl.
Police say the reports of an assault were unfounded and the man is no longer being sought.
On Sunday, officers responded to a residence in the Lake Shore community of Pasadena for a report of an alleged sex offense that happened on Tuesday, February 14.
The victim reported that she was walking home from Lake Shore Elementary school between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. through the Riding Woods neighborhood when a man grabbed her and pulled her into a wooded area, where the sex offense occurred.
Detectives have released a composite sketch of the suspect, but there have been no recent reports of suspicious persons or suspicious activity in the community.
The suspect is described as being between 35 and 40-years-old, 5'1" tall, 175 - 200 pounds, clean shaven with a bald head. He was last seen wearing a brown and yellow jacket, black shirt and black pants.
Police have increased their patrols in the area and have additional patrols during school hours throughout the week.
