Police: Screaming mother thwarts thief

BROOKLYN PARK, Md (WMAR) - Police in Anne Arundel County are looking for the man responsible for forcing his way into a home in an attempt to steal money.

Police responded to the 300 block of Hillcrest Avenue in Brooklyn Park at about 10:30 p.m., Wednesday for reports of a home invasion.

Officers spoke with the male homeowner who said that a male suspect armed with a gun had made contact with him in the backyard and then forced him into a house. While inside, the suspect attempted to force the victim to hand over money.

The victim's mother saw her son being held at gunpoint and began screaming.  The suspect fled the area without taking anything, heading west on Hillcrest Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build, wearing a black bandana over his face, a black tee shirt and white shorts with designs on them.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
