HARUNDALE, Md. - Anne Arundel County Police are investigating the attack and attempted rape of a 20-year-old woman on the B&A Trail in Harundale Thursday afternoon.

The victim told police she was on the trial at around 2:22 p.m. when the suspect, later identified as Michael Jovante Armond Johnson, approached her. She claims Johnson grabbed her and attempted to drag her into a wooded area.

The victim says she screamed. That's when a man who lives nearby came to her rescue and Johnson took off running.

Police established a perimeter around the area. They found Johnson a short time later near Marley Station Mall. The victim was able to positively identified him as her attacker.

Johnson was taken into custody where he was found to be in possession of condoms and a knife.

Johnson is charged with attempted rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and fourth-degree sex offense. He is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $750,000 bond.
