ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) - Detectives were investigating at the Westfield Annapolis Mall Monday evening after a woman was stabbed.
According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers were notified by mall security of a possible stabbing that occurred inside American Apparel around 6:15 p.m.
Police say that a group of people engaged in a verbal altercation. One of the people involved threw a punch without striking anyone.
After the punch was thrown, the suspect, Octavia Patrica Williams, 26, of Landover, struck the 21-year-old victim in her back with a sharp instrument, police said.
Medical personnel responded, but the victim refused treatment. Police describe the wound as a superficial puncture.
Police said that no other injuries were reported and no other parties will be charged.
Williams will be charged with first and second degree assault.
