Man shot during robbery attempt

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WMAR) -  

Anne Arundel County Police need your help to find the man responsible for a robbery and shooting. 
 
Officers responded to Baltimore Washington Medical Center at about 9:40 p.m. Monday for reports of a shooting victim. 
 
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 23-year-old male victim, who reported that he was sitting in his parked vehicle in the 7800 block of South Hampton Drive when a man approached him. 
 
The suspect displayed a handgun and announced a robbery. The victim tried to drive away, but was shot by the suspect who had fired into the vehicle. 
 
The suspect fled on foot into a wooded area and the victim drove away. 
 
The victim is listed in stable condition and expected to survive. 
 
The preliminary information suggests that this crime was targeted and not a random act of violence. 
 
The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20's, about 5'10", wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
