GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WMAR) - A casual request for a cigarette turned into an armed robbery in Glen Burnie Sunday night.


Anne Arundel County police said around 11:45 p.m. officers were called to Norfolk Road and Oakley Road for a report of an armed robbery.


The 30-year-old male victim told police that he was walking on Norfolk Road when an unknown man asked him for a cigarette. The man then pulled a gun ordered the victim to empty his pockets.  When the victim complied, the man took off on foot.

Police searched the area and were unable to find the suspect.


An investigation is ongoing.
