Man arrested after setting car on fire

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Annapolis Fire Department have uncovered and arrested an arsonist.

Just before 5:00 a.m., this morning, units from the Annapolis Fire Department responded to 1090 Spa Road for a reported vehicle fire.

Officers from the Annapolis Police Department also responded to the address to find a fire in the passenger compartment of a vehicle.

The fire was extinguished and the subsequent investigation determined that it was incendiary in nature.

Fire Investigators conducted a joint investigation with the police department and a suspect was developed. Several witnesses were interviewed and a search and seizure warrant was obtained for a nearby residence.

Several pieces of evidence were recovered during the search, and a suspect was arrested and charged with Malicious Burning in the first degree and Malicious Destruction of Property over $500.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
