SEVERN, Md. - Detectives in Anne Arundel County Police Department's Special Enforcement Section have made an arrest in the case of a man who was growing marijuana, and a large quantity of guns.

Detectives received a tip on August 30th in reference to marijuana growing on a property in the 500 block of Old Oak Road in Severn. Detectives responded to that address and observed the marijuana plants growing.

Police were able to make contact with the resident and conducted a subsequent search which resulted in the location and seizure of five suspected marijuana plants with a combined height of 27 feet.

Inside the residence detectives also located and seized 146 grams of suspected marijuana, four marijuana plants with a combined height of 17 feet, marijuana growing equipment, scales, four rifles, two shotguns and two handguns.

The marijuana plants alone, had a combined street value of over $10,500.

“I am extremely proud of the men and women of the police department’s Special Enforcement Division,” said Chief of Police Colonel James Teare, Sr. “Their quick action in this case led to the seizure of narcotics and weapons and will help keep this contraband from reaching the streets of Anne Arundel County.”

Police have arrested and charged Scott Andrew Wagner, age 40, of the 500 block of Old Oak Road. Wagner has been charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, CDS Manufacturing and Firearm and Drug Trafficking Crime
