EDGEWATER, Md. - An Edgewater woman’s attempt to beat the heat during the extended power outage proved dangerous when a burglar walked into her house through doors open for ventilation.

According to police, at around 2:00am Thursday officers were called to the 100 block of Washington Road in Edgewater. The  homeowner said she was awakened by noises in her house, and then saw an unknown white man leaving her house through an open door.

The victim told police that her purse was stolen by the suspect. Patrol Officers and K-9 searched the area, but were unable to locate the man.

The homeowner said she left the doors and windows of her house open because the power was out due to the recent storm in the area.
