PASADENA, Md. - Students in Pasadena were late getting out of school thanks to a burglar who was causing a ruckus in the area.
Anne Arundel County Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Thursday. They were called out to Alvin Road for an attempted burglary. When they got there, police started searching the wooded area around the home for the burglar. They also set up a perimeter around the area to try and keep the suspect from getting away.
Just a half mile down the road from all of this is Lake Shore Elementary School. When school officials learned what was going on, they decided to keep students in the school, which pushed back dismissal time.
After six minutes of delays, the school started to dismiss students. Around that time, a police officer spotted the suspect and started to chase him. Police then converged on the school and students who remained were brought back inside.
After a short time, the suspect fled away from the area of the school and the remaining students were allowed to go home.
About an hour afterwards, around 5 p.m., police captured Jason Donaldson and charged him in connection to the attempted burglary.
