The White House fears rising gasoline prices could undermine President Barack Obama's improving re-election prospects as the year goes on. Obama flies to Florida today to promote an energy strategy that the administration says will reduce dependence on foreign oil in the long term.

Father sentenced for letting 9-year-old drive
Today, a father convicted of letting his 9-year-old daughter drive because he was drunk, is expected to to be sentenced. Shawn Weimer was arrested by police in Michigan in December. His daughter was driving the family van. Weimer said he was too drunk to drive himself.

Rights of unborn babies to be debated
The Virginia Senate Committee on Education and Health today will hold a hearing to consider the legal rights of unborn children. The legislation that is being discussed would give unborn children full person rights.

Hearing on women's health issues in Washington, D.C.
House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee is holding a hearing on women's health and contraception with Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke. Fluke was recently denied a spot to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the issue of contraception .

Pope tweets for 40 days of Lent
The Pontiff is back online with Twitter. Pope Benedict the XVI announced he will tweet for all 40 days of Lent. The goal is to help spread the Pope's message to younger generations. The Pope sent out his first tweet in June and up until Lent began, he has only sent 5 other tweets
