Nearly 250,000 expandable lunch boxes made by California Innovations are being recalled because the freezer gel pack can leak out and lead to poisoning in children and pets.
The recall was announced in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
They are advising anyone who has one of the lunch boxes, called the Ci Sport three-piece, expandable, insulated lunch box set, sold at Costco Wholesale stores between May 2007 and September 2008 for about $10, to stop using the gel packs and get rid of them.
Customers can return the lunch box sets to Costco for a full refund or get a $5 cash refund for the gel pack by contacting the company, California Innovations.
The company says they received two reports of dogs chewing and ingesting gel from the gel pack.
One of them died, and the other received treatment and recovered.
