At Gerstell Academy in Finksburg, Maryland, we believe in teaching children that strong, personal leadership is the key to success in school and beyond.
We are a co-educational, non-sectarian school for students entering Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12.
The Gerstell Academy leadership principles, attributes, mission, and motto provide the foundation for all that we do.
The four pillars of a Gerstell Academy education include leadership, college preparatory academics, physical training, and modern language fluency.
Our students understand the importance of our value system, and are able to articulate the mission of Gerstell Academy to everyone who visits our beautiful 250-acre campus.
Public speaking is an important part of leadership training, and students have many opportunities to present. Very simply put, we teach leadership.
We develop young leaders through a systematic, rigorous curriculum designed to motivate, inspire, and educate. Our students learn the art of public speaking, the importance of good manners, and the need to make a positive difference in the world.
Competitive athletic opportunities begin in the Sixth Grade, and teams compete in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. Club sports include golf and track.
The Middle and Upper School divisions utilizes the expansive Paterakis Academic/Athletic Center, a 67,000 square foot, state of the art building with the latest in both academic and sports technologies.
Students also make use of the Carolyn B. Smith Hall; Gerstell Academy’s newest building, which houses biology, chemistry, and physics laboratories as well as our dining facility.
We hope you will join us during one of our fall Open Houses – visit us on the web at www.gerstell.org for more information.
