Virginia State Police are investigating a man accused of making threatening comments on a Greyhound bus traveling from Richmond to New York City at the start of the Thanksgiving travel day.

Police say worried passengers called 911 early Wednesday morning about a man on the bus making threatening comments and threatened to hurt other passengers. State police responded and evacuated the bus in the pre-dawn hours along Interstate-95 in northern Virginia.

Police say the man initially refused to leave the bus. But later, he was taken into custody without any further incident. Officials didn't reveal the nature of the man's threats.

Investigators searched the bus for any suspicious packages, but nothing was found. The bus was cleared by 6 a.m.

Police say charges are pending against the suspect.
