WASHINGTON - The Smithsonian is honoring Julia Child on what would have been the celebrated chef's 100th birthday.

The National Museum of American History is displaying a new installation of her kitchen as part of an upcoming exhibition on food in America.

Her kitchen will be on display through Sept. 3, but members of the media are being offered a first look at it Tuesday, along with a preview of objects that will be featured in the food exhibition. Then, on Wednesday, the museum is hosting a daylong celebration of Child, including screenings of three episodes from WGBH's "The French Chef."
