It's got to start somewhere. In this case, an experiment is going on at a bar in Mankato, Minnesota. Pub 500 has an idea they think will catch on. They have installed a pregnancy test dispenser in the women's bathroom. According to the New York Times, most bar-goers like the idea.
Health advocates are hopeful that having pregnancy tests in a bar will help reduce the stigma of discussing prenatal alcohol consumption. The dispensers look like condom dispensers and cost $3, which is less than what you pay at a drug store.
Why Pub 500 in Minnesota to test this out? The bar caters to professional women with disposable incomes, in the same age group, coincidentally, with the highest risk of drinking during pregnancy.
