NEW YORK, NY - July is National Ice Cream month and what better way to stay cool today and when a scoop of ice cream.

According to the international ice cream association, vanilla is still the most popular flavor. Ice cream is an $10 to $11 billion dollar retail industry and here in the U.S., with Americans eating around 22 quarts of ice cream a year.

One out of every five ice cream eaters admit to binging in the middle of the night.

According Diary Foods Association , the month didn't receive its distinction until President Ronald Reagan gave July the sweet treat distinction.
