BALTIMORE - Why do we cling to old wives' tales when we live in a world rich with medical expertise?

 

Old wives' tales are passed down from generation to generation, offering advice about experiences we all share and may worry about.

 

If you are craving sweets, you are having a girl.

Salty foods? It's a boy?

Do you want to go into labor? Try spicy foods.

When it comes to pregnancy, there are no shortage of old wives's tales. From conception to gender to labor -- there is a myth about everything.

ABC2 News Megan Pringle has heard a lot of them. Especially when it comes to gender. She did a little digging to see if there's any truth to the stories we tell each other.Watch the video for more on what she found.
