The old wedding adage "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" is being taken to heart by cash-strapped brides. More women are choosing to rent their wedding gowns instead of buy.

It's no secret that the cost of a wedding has skyrocketed over the years.  One way brides can cut the cost down is renting their dress instead of buying one.  For many, it makes sense because they will only wear their dress once and stuff it in the back of a closet, never to be seen again.

Wedding experts say it's also a great way for a bride to get a designer dud for a fraction of the cost.  If you rent, you can get a $7,000 dress for under $700.
