Emergency workers from Maryland left for Newark, New Jersey early Monday morning to help those suffering from Hurricane Sandy.

The team of 12 met for a short briefing at the Anne Arundel County Fire Department headquarters before hitting the road at 5:45 AM.

Their main job when they get to New Jersey will be to coordinate EMS resources that are there right now to help with hurricane relief.

They'll join other Maryland responders who have been providing help to hard hit areas.

On Saturday, a team of 50 doctors, nurses, and paramedics left for Brooklyn, New York to work in medical shelters and hospitals.
