Hours before the doors opened they were lining up.

Fans of "The Hunger Games" stood inside the movie theater in Columbia, waiting to get a good seat.

The midnight showings there sold out, even the more expensive Imax tickets.

Other theaters across the Baltimore area expected to sell out, too.

The trilogy has been become a huge phenomenon.

It's a survival of the fittest storyline where kids fight to their death to win food for their communities.

According to the movie ticket site fandango, nationwide tickets are selling at a rate of 10 tickets per second.
