Facebook and Twitter are more difficult to resist than cigarettes and alcohol

If you can't seem to get off of Facebook and Twitter, you may not be alone.

A new study says social networking sites are more difficult to resist than cigarettes and alcohol.

The study suggests people may fail to resist social media so much because there is no obvious or immediate downside to checking services like Twitter or Facebook.

The lead researcher does warn that these services can ultimately be a huge drain on users' time.
