BALTIMORE - It was Fusion Night on DWTS. The couples were paired with 2 different dance styles that they had to perform to 1 song. It lead to some very interesting and entertaining choreography.
Apolo kicked off Fusion night with a Cha Cha/Paso Doble. Karina wanted to finish off with the Paso, because she said the Cha Cha was strong, but the Paso was Stronger and boy was she ever right. I wasn't sure how this fusion thing was going to go, but they kicked it. Fantastic. The judges gave them a 27.
In the package before Emmitt preformed, Cheryl said she was going to change dance styles, from Rumba to Samba, every 10 seconds and I was sure it was going to be a mess. I was SO impressed with result. The music and Cheryl's choreography were a perfect match. It was definitely a fusion and it worked. Judges score was 27.5
I have not been much of a fan of Kirstie this season, but I really liked her fusion of Quick Step and Samba. It wasn't her best dance technically, but it was entertaining and fun to watch. She got a 24.
Kelly and Val did a Fox Trot/Cha Cha and it was fabulous! Awesome, awesome performance. The transition from one style to the next was seamless, but the 2 styles were so distinct. Those two are fantastic. 27.
Melissa and Tony's Tango/Cha Cha was definitely high energy and Melissa executed everything really well. She got a perfect 30, but her dance didn't do that much for me. Maybe I'm just anti-Melissa. The other couples that are simply more entertaining to watch.
Shawn danced a Tango/Paso Doble and crushed it. There is something about her presence which adds something inexplicable to her performances. She was on fire. Perfect score. And she's so darn cute, too!
Of course Gilles and Peeta had an exquisite fusion of Argentine Tango and Samba. He was all worried that he wasn't going to be polished, but in the end, he pulled it off. 28.5.
Melissa and Tony won the dance marathon, so they got 10 points added to their score. I'm done with Melissa and Tony. They're doing a great job, but they are not my favorite couple. They can't maintain this, right? We'll see.
No one gets the boot this week because of the Presidential elections. Phew. See ya next week.
