BALTIMORE - Who knew that making such a transition would be difficult?
It’s hard to believe Dorothy Hamill, a seemingly ageless 56-year-old known for elegantly spinning and twirling her way to Olympic gold in the 1976 Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria, would be worried about dancing.
She won five consecutive national titles, dancing across ice to music, captivating audiences and building a career that would eventually lead to Olympic and Figure Skating Hall of Fame nods.
But, in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight , the Baltimore Dancing With The Stars participant admitted she is a little worried. Fans posting comments about the interview on her Facebook page say she is just being modest. Some fans say they will vote for her no matter what it looks like when her feet hit the floor on Monday, March 18 at 8 p.m.

In the ET interview , Hamill said she’s trying to make herself look like a dancer as opposed to an ice skating elephant trying to do stuff on the floor.
“Dorothy is always so humble, love that about her, will definitely be rooting for her on Dancing with the Stars ,” one fan wrote on the Facebook thread.
Regardless, participating in the show this year is something Hamill says she knows will become one of the most memorable experiences of her life.
“I’m sure at some point on this journey I’ll think ‘what have I gotten myself into,’” Hamill wrote on her Facebook page. “But regardless, at the end, I’ll know that I’ll have had one of the best and most memorable experiences in my life!”
Hamill is paired with professional dancer Tristan McManus. This season will make McManus’ third on DWTS .
McManus won numerous juvenile, junior and amateur competitions in Europe that eventually led to his starring in several theatrical productions in his home Ireland, elsewhere in the United Kingdom, Australia and America.
