LOS ANGELES - Diana Ross says everyone involved would be better off if the drama over Michael Jackson's children and who takes care of them -- wasn't on the news every day.

Ross sent a statement to The Associated Press to declare that she felt the issue is best resolved in private.

Ross is a longtime friend of the late pop star -- but her interest in the custody issue is more personal than that.

She is named in Jackson's will as a potential guardian for the pop star's three children -- if his mother, Katherine Jackson was unavailable to serve.

Last week, a judge suspended the kids' grandmother as guardian last week -- and appointed T.J. Jackson -- Tito's son -- as temporary guardian.

As part of the court order, T.J. Jackson was ordered to notify Ross of the changes.

Court paperwork from last week indicate that was done.
