The Medical Examiner's Office District 19 issued a statement confirming that Jones died and will evaluate whether they are taking jurisdiction.

Jones was involved with many charities in the Florida area.

A friend told Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers that he looked fine last week.

Jones joined the Monkees in 1965 as part of a TV show about a rock 'n' roll band.

He has performed to benefit local organizations, such as the Indiantown Education Coalition, an organization that provides scholarships for students, provides grants for classroom supplies and funds student field trips.
