It was another great night of dancing on DWTS. Everybody seems to be stepping up their game. Miss Julianne Hough was guest judge and was a delight. Let's get to it!
The first dance of the night was fun and adorable, just like its dancer, Jack Osbourne. He kicked out a Quickstep that was a crowd-pleaser. I think he would have gotten 9's if he was able to maintain form the entire time. He got a 24, not too bad.
I don't know what it is about Elizabeth Berkley that I find so boring. The judges had glowing praises for her Argentine Tango. I thought it was just OK. She's a beautiful dancer, but she does absolutely nothing for me. 27 for Elizabeth.
Brant and Peeta's Salsa was f-u-n FUN! It was jam-packed and overflowing with energy. It looked like they were having a blast out there. The judges called him out on some loosey-goosey arms. I saw no such thing. Brant would have gotten a 9 from me, at least. He got 7's from the judges! What??! 21 for Brant.
I think the only thing I love more than Valerie Harper is the way she's treated by her partner Tristan McManus. Every week, I get chills and choked up during their performance. She danced a Viennese Waltz and it had moments of brilliance, but it was also painfully obvious when she went wrong. I wish her dances were 45 seconds instead of 90. She could totally dominate for 45 seconds. 18 for Valerie.
Leah Remini has the potential to be great, but she dances to 95 percent execution. She's so close. Her Cha Cha would have been stellar if she'd just sell the moves. 24 for Leah. Step it up, chick!
So Corbin danced a Paso Doble this week—A perfectly traditional, no gimmicks here, Paso. It was stunning. It started out a little slow and then it started to build and build and wow. It got me. Dude is legit. 27 for Corbin.
I don't really like Snooki. I don't think I'm alone here. And I will say that I probably don't know enough about her to make that statement, but I made it. She danced a jive and was all into it and I still didn't like it. I'm biased. I am not a judge. I'm allowed. I was impressed, however, that she can do a back handspring. That was cool. 24 for Snooki.
Christina Milian is a fabulous performer. I could really watch her dance all day long. I am concerned that she doesn't have the fan base to carry her through, but she deserves to come back next week (and she will). Her Foxtrot was quirky and a little non-traditional and I enjoyed it. 24 for Christina.
I think we all know that I love Amber Reilly. Yes? Yes. She had some knee problems going into competition night, so I was worried that her performance would suffer. She danced a Tango,. There were times that I wasn't sure if she was making an "oh my aching knee" face or an "I'm absolutely killing this Tango" face. Turns out she was killing the Tango. 27!
Bill Engvall. He's so sweet. But he looked kind of like a noodle doing his Samba. What I love about him, though, is that he really sells it. I don't think anyone looked like they had as much fun as he did. What is awesome about this new format (one couple gets the boot on performance night), is that he was able to find out that he was safe for next week immediately after getting his score. He cried. Like I said, he's sweet. In case you're wondering, he got a 21.
The saddest news of the night is that Valerie Harper got the boot. She was simply a joy to watch every week. I really do wish they could have her come back and dance and not be judged. She could be a little weekly interlude. Ah well. Carry On, Miss Valerie. It's been a pleasure.
