Rapper will.i.am has handed over a generous donation to schools in New Zealand.
The Black Eyed Peas star surprised kids at Point England Primary School with a giant cheque worth 100,000 New Zealand dollars ($84,000/£54,000) on Thursday (09May13) morning.
The Grammy winner's money will be shared between nine schools in low-income areas and the cash will be used to buy new computers and iPads.
Speaking to the youngsters, will.i.am stressed the importance of education and urged kids to become scientists and engineers so they can be part of the dawning "technological revolution".
He said, "What's coming is something that we haven't seen in humanity - this technological revolution that is transforming society as a whole. As the world advances, kids in inner cities are left behind and not even given the tools to compete in the future that we are walking into."
will.i.am was in Auckland to perform at a private party on Wednesday (08May13).
