SIR ELTON JOHN has joined the bill of a charity concert in September (12) to back a campaign for world peace.

The Rocket Man agreed to take part in the show at London's Wembley Stadium to help raise awareness of charity Peace One Day's Global Truce 2012 campaign.

The veteran singer was approached by the organisation's ambassador Jude Law and founder Jeremy Gilley, and says in a statement, "When Jeremy and Jude came to see me and told me about Peace One Day and the Global Truce 2012 campaign I had to get involved and support them."

Gilley adds, "I'm honoured to welcome Elton John and so grateful to him."
