Pop superstar JUSTIN BIEBER was honored with a special award in his native Canada on Friday (23Nov12).

The Baby hitmaker was presented with a Diamond Jubilee medal, created to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne, according to local newspaper the Edmonton Sun.

The honor is to recognize "significant contributions and achievements by Canadians", and Bieber was handed the award by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Taking to his Twitter.com page to share a picture of the prizegiving in Ottawa, Bieber made reference to his outfit choice, telling his followers, "I met the Prime Minister in overalls."

In a post on his own page, Harper added, "Was happy to present justin bieber with a Diamond Jubilee Medal."
