Comedy icon JERRY LEWIS is bouncing back after his recent hospitalisation by kicking off rehearsals for a new play.
The 86-year-old actor/director collapsed on Tuesday (12Jun12) just hours before he was due to hand Tom Cruise the Friars Entertainment Icon Award at a New York gala.
He was treated for low blood sugar and has since been released from doctors' care, and is now preparing to begin work on a musical adaptation of his 1963 movie The Nutty Professor.
His publicist Candi Cazau insists "all is well" with Lewis, who is "getting ready to return to work" when rehearsals begin later this month (Jun12).
The production debuts in Nashville, Tennessee next month (Jul12) before heading to Broadway.
