BOSTON - Popular NPR show "Car Talk" is rolling into the junkyard later this year as the hosts of the program are retiring.

NPR announced on its website Friday that Tom and Ray Magliozzi (Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers), the hosts of the show, are retiring after 35 years of taping the show.

The show has been on NPR for 25 of those 35 years.

The show will still continue in some form.  Starting in October, producers will put together new shows from an assortment of "best of" material.  They will also make periodic new updates.

The pair will still be active on Facebook and write a twice weekly colum for NPR.
