Annual anime convention attracts thousands of fans to the Baltimore Convention Center

BALTIMORE, Md. - Scores of Japanese anime fans have gathered inside the Baltimore Convention Center and all over the Inner Harbor to celebrate the 17th annual Otakon convention.

Otakon is described as a celebration of anime, manga, and all aspects of Asian pop culture.

Fans of all ages come to the event dressed in anime inspired costumes.

The three day festival ended Sunday and the unofficial number of attendees for this year's gathering is 29,274 people.

That number is up from last year's total of 26,586.
