Most of us can take education for granted. However, not all of the people around the world are that lucky.

Fortunately for some children living in Kenya, local Maryland teens have set up an organization called Kids for Kenya.  The group raises money to better the quality of education in Kenya by providing children there with new school buildings and books.

It all started when Charles Coldman traveled to Kenya. He found the schools there were in terrible condition.  Some of the floors had holes in them, the buildings had no windows, the kids used old books and sat at broken tables.

Coldman started the organization African Promise. His cousins Ally and Georgie Teuten started the organization Kids for Kenya to get teenagers involved in the effort.

Kids for Kenya has held several fundraisers and it hopes to have many more in the future. Check out their website http://www.kids4kenya.org/ to see the before and after pictures of the school buildings that were renovated with the money they raised and to learn how you can get involved.

You can also donate to this charity on their website.
