Baltimore - Fred Slade joined WMAR in 1984 and says he’s always known he’s wanted to have a career in broadcasting. He started at WMAR as an intern after graduating from Towson State University with a degree in Communications. While at Towson he hosted a rhythm and blues show.

But Fred’s first “real” paying job was at WAMD in Aberdeen, Harford County as a disc jockey.

As for his 26 years at WMAR, Fred has done photography, editing, live shot tech, and is now a Multi Media Journalist.

Fred’s father made a career out of the military so he is a self proclaimed “army brat”. During his childhood he lived in France and Germany but now calls Harford County home. He lives in Fallston with his wife Phyllis and their son Barry and their dog Mercedes.

In Fred’s free time he likes bowling, karate, going to the movies and listening to music, especially Alicia Keys.
