So for the most part I'll write about news and I'll mix in a little bit of life, but sometimes those worlds collide. This morning, while checking various websites, I see a newspapers web story about Silly Bandz.
I have 2 kids and yes we have Silly Bandz. It's the latest craze. My 5 year old and 8 year old are all about these bracelets to the point that even my husband has even driven around looking for them.
There are pluses and minuses to this craze. It's definitely less expensive than the WebKinz I was buying 2 years ago but I keep finding these bracelets everywhere, and I mean in the house. I pulled one out of the dryer this weekend, there are some on the kitchen counter, and it's hard to keep track of who got what set of braceletts.
What I found interesting in reading this mornings news is that some school systems are actually banning kids from wearing these bracelets to school, because they are trading them in class. What do you think about that?
There are also kids that have "thousands" according to one mom on the web. So moms and dads are we going too far? Are we doing too much to keep our kids up on the latest trend? I'm guilty of it. My kids have these things. Do I want them to have thousands, no! But I remember what it was like when I was a kid and was the last person to get a Cabbage Patch Doll.
