ABC2 News Joce Sterman takes home an Emmy, again!

Washington, D.C. - Saturday night was a big night in Washington, D.C. It was Emmy night! We are part of the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the Emmys.

ABC2 had a table full of talent on hand to accept the awards. And our own Megan Pringle was this year’s host! She was fabulous.

In what is described as a very long ceremony, I wasn’t there but followed it on Twitter, ABC2 walked away with only a few wins.

ABC2 News Investigator Joce Sterman entered the category “reporter composite”, which means all around good reporting. For this entry she sends in a few stories and people judge her overall reporting talent. Joce won, again! She won this same award last year so congrats to Joce for keeping the title! Joce turns so many great stories with ABC2. She’s great a digging through paperwork and taking a tip and making it something fabulous!

ABC2 News Reporter/Anchor Roosevelt Leftwich entered and was nominated for his coverage of the massive water main break in Dundalk, he was one of the first reporters live on the ground during that massive break. When he learned of his nomination he was psyched! Unfortunately, he did not get the win. There were 6 nominees in Rosie’s category “Spot News”.

ABC2 News Brian Kuebler was up for 2 Emmys. The first category was for “Investigative Series”. This was for his investigation into the crash of State Police helicopter Trooper 2. It was a really good series of stories and he did a lot of digging and broke a lot of details on that crash, which was so important because of the questions that came out of the crash of Trooper 2. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the win, losing out to WTTG in DC. But during that story ABC2 won coverage because of Brian’s passion for that story. Brian was also nominated for his story he called “Pain Behind the Badge”. It was about more and more police officers committing suicide. Another great story, that didn’t win.

2 former members of our promotions department did win. Rob Brockmeyer and Tim Baldwin won for their weather spot featuring Norm Lewis and a bad announcer. (he couldn’t get the phrase “Most Powerful” right, that’s what made him bad)

Clearly I’m biased. I’m so happy Joce walked away with the Emmy, again! And I’ve already told her I’m hoping for a three-peat. As for Brian and Rosie, they should have won. Not just for the great stories they told but for their sheer enthusiasm for these stories and the work they do every day.
