State officials are warning of "significant delays" on the Bay Bridge over Labor Day weekend.
The Maryland Transportation Authority estimates that 366,000 vehicles will drive over the bridge between Friday and Monday. That translates to more than 73,000 vehicles for each of the bridge's five lanes.
The authority is advising travelers to use the bridge during non-peak hours -- generally early in the morning and late at night. Another way to beat the traffic is to come home early Monday -- before 11 a.m.
Overall, the authority expects 3 percent more vehicles at its toll facilities than in previous years.
After the weekend, the authority will begin deck replacement work on the Bay Bridge, requiring the closure of the westbound span on four nights.
