Texas is cream of the crop in Big 12

After watching the Texas-OSU game on Saturday it is clear who the best team in the Big 12 is. The Longhorns dominated the Cowboys from the opening kickoff on their way to an impressive 41-14 victory in Stillwater. Even though the Longhorns were outgained by two yards, the game was not close at all. The Texas defense forced Zac Robinson into four interceptions to go along with one touchdown. Two of the interceptions were returned for touchdowns. And with Colt McCoy leading the offense, Texas (8-0, 5-0) remained a perfect 12-0 against OSU with Mack Brown as head coach.

Texas moved up one spot in the BCS standings to No. 2 jumping Alabama who was idle. Texas now seems to be in the driver seat to the national championship game. Their remaining schedule includes a non-conference opponent in UCF, along with conference games against Baylor, Kansas, and Texas A&M on Thanksgiving weekend. If I was a betting man, I would sure bet on the Longhorns to run the table, beat any team from the Big 12 North in the Big 12 championship game and find themselves in the BCS national championship game. So far this season, no one team has distanced themselves from the rest of the pack until last Saturday. In my opinion, Texas showed they are truly the best team not only in the Big 12, but the country. If I was a voter, I would pick Texas ahead of Florida.

Texas will probably be heavy favorites in all four remaining games of the season. If they stick to what they have been doing all year, they will finish the regular season a perfect 12-0. But we all know that anything is possible in college football. Texas can not afford to look past any team when so much is at stake, but it could happen. Especially on Nov. 26 when they visit College Station and take on Texas A&M. The Aggies are not a good team and the Longhorns might take them for granted. We shall see. But as it stands today, I pick Texas as the best team in the country.
