Week 7 is almost in the books. (Really, does anyone want to see the Skins get drummed by the Eagles tonight?) I just heard on ESPN that never before has the NFL had 3 undefeated teams remain this deep into the season. The Saints, Broncos and Colts are all "and-0" through Week 7. The Vikings would have been the 4th team on the list had it not been for some amazing defensive plays by the Steelers in their game yesterday.
But on the other side of the ball, have you ever seen a season with so many wretched teams? Last season, we watched the Lions go 0-16. This year, the Titans, Rams and Buccaneers are all 0-for-2009. Could we have 3 teams go "defeated"? The reason this answer is "NO" is that the Titans and the Rams will play each other. Unless they tie, one of those two will win at least one game. But all 3 teams have played so poorly, there's not much any of them will win more than 1 or 2 teams, even if they can avoid the season shutout.
Just above the lowliest 3 teams, you've got another crop of teams that are almost as dreadful. The Chiefs, Browns and Lions have won only 1 game, while the Redskins, Raiders and Seahawks should be thankful to have won the 2 games they each have won.
Parity, where art thou this season?
